Children's International Art Exchange

The Three White Cranes, Two Flyways, One World Art Exhibition is Coming to Milwaukee, WI
Casey Gutkowski, Naturalist, International Crane Foundation

Art has always been a beautiful way of bringing people together and communicating passion in life. It is no wonder that cranes have been the inspiration of so many artists, including children. The Children’s International Art Exchange at the International Crane Foundation (ICF) is proud to be a part of ICF’s latest educational program, Three White Cranes, Two Flyways, One World. This new project links teachers and students in Milwaukee along the US flyway for two species of cranes, with teachers and students along the crane flyway in east Asia that supports six crane species. This exclusive art display will feature pieces from children in the central city of Milwaukee, China and Russia. Each student has created artwork inspired by the Three White Cranes, the Red-crowned, Siberian and Whooping Cranes, and the Two Flyways they call home.

To bring this One World together, the traveling art display will begin in Milwaukee, WI at the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum (BBCM) on exhibit January 5 - March 30, 2008. Please come for the Grand Opening Reception on January 17 from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm, honoring the children who made this possible. As part of BBCM’s Neighborhood Night, there will be free admission for everyone from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. Future exhibit dates and locations will be posted on the Tracking Cranes website, or email the Art Exchange Coordinator. Please join ICF in celebrating all the hard work these children have done to support the endangered habitats they love so much.

Support the Three White Cranes, Two Flyways, One World Project Today

Note cards designed by Xianghai Middle School studentsAnother way to support crane art is to buy crane art. Art in a Box and the International Crane Foundation have paired up to create striking note cards (left) featuring the art of Chinese students involved in the Three White Cranes, Two Flyways, One World program. The note cards are not only unique and beautiful, but the sale supports environmental education at Xianghai Primary and Middle Schools in northeastern China (click here to learn more about this project).
