One World: Connecting People to Conservation

“Protecting our natural resources is important, because we could take everything and nothing would be left.” Steve W., Hawley Environmental School student, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

“We learned wild animals are disappearing, and we decided to do something to save them.” Kytalyk student camp participants, Yakutia, Russia

“Everyone here cares. I grew up in the nature reserve. I want to help the cranes. My strength is little, but I will do my best.” Liu Yue, Xianghai Village, Jilin Province, China

Through the Three White Cranes, Two Flyways, One World project, students like you are learning about cranes and their conservation along the eastern crane flyways in China, Russia and the United States. We are learning that cranes face many of the same challenges in both regions - including increasing development and loss of wetland habitat - but we are also learning that each of us (that includes you!) can make a difference in protecting our environment and the future of cranes and other wildlife near our homes.
