Keerqin Elementary School
Students at Keerqin No. 7 Elementary School are learning about cranes and wetlands through Three White Cranes project activities in China. The school is located near Keerqin Nature Reserve, where several different crane species stop to rest during their annual migrations.
Keerqin Nature Reserve has worked with local teachers to develop a school curriculum focusing on cranes and wetland conservation. The curriculum is in both Chinese and Mongolian, as many of the students in Keerqin are Mongolian. In 2007 a group of students and teachers from Keerqin participated in an environmental camp at Muraviovka Park in the Amur Region of southeastern Russia. The following year, in 2008, the Keerqin teachers organized a summer camp of their own in China.
