Three white cranes – the Siberian, Red-crowned and Whooping Crane – are among the most threatened of the world’s 15 species of crane. These three crane species live on different continents, but through their shared struggle for survival unite the many landscapes and people where they live.
In classrooms throughout China, Russia and the United States students like you are learning about cranes and their conservation. Together we will learn about two flyways where cranes are found – the east Asia flyway that links Siberia with eastern China and the US eastern crane flyway that joins the Upper Midwest with the southern United States.Through this project we will share art work, stories and information about cranes and wetlands found near our homes, as well as our shared responsibility for conserving these threatened species and ecosystems.Together, we will learn that each of us can make a difference in this one world that we share.
