Three White Cranes Classroom Activities
We have designed a set of classroom activities specifically for the Three White Cranes project. Click on the links below to view and download these activities.
Tracking Cranes
You are invited to join a team of international researchers as they study Siberian Crane migration
in Asia. Together, we will follow two Siberian Cranes as they complete their first spring migration and discover how people that live far from each other are connected by migratory birds. It’s a long journey – nearly 3,000 miles – so put on your waders (we’ll be walking through wetlands) and grab your binoculars!
You and your class can participate in this exciting study by viewing our online migration map and mapping the migration in your classroom. View background information on the migration study and download the classroom mapping activity outline.
Geography, People & Cranes of east asia
This four-unit series focuses on the regions where our project sites are located in East Asia. Each unit includes a student fact sheet and powerpoint presentation, providing background information on the geography, people and conservation issues of each region.

Comparing Cranes Worksheet
If you are also studying Whooping Cranes in your classroom, we have developed a student worksheet to help you compare the Whooping and Siberian Crane. Discuss the similarities and differences in the species’ range, habitats, and threats, and why researchers are studying both populations. Your students can use the online Whooping Crane and Siberian Crane fact sheets to complete the worksheet.
