Golda Meier Elementary School

Kang Yun, Beijing Brooks Education Center

Last Tuesday (March 20, 2007) we visited GoldaMeierElementary School, Milwaukee, WI. It’s a beautiful school in a beautiful city.

To my surprise, one boy said “你好” to me, it means “hello” in Chinese. It is more wonderful that another boy said “你好” to me, too. Next, a girl, another girl: almost every student of Jan, a Golda Meier teacher who likes cranes and is interested in our project, can say “hello” in Chinese.

I like Jan’s classroom, for it’s warm and lovely. I love those boys and girls, for they are passionate, intelligent and happy. Masha and I gave our PowerPoint presentations about our project, and they could give the names of cranes we showed to them. They are interested in learning some Chinese, they were also glad to play with a Chinese game, Jianzi, with me.

The hours I spent with them were the happiest of my travels in Milwaukee.
